Bamboo curtains, especially those hung on doors or windows, are a type of Han bamboo weaving. In ancient times, when the Queen Mother or empress came to court to listen in on government affairs, the palace was covered with bamboo curtains known as hanging curtains. Bamboo curtains are made primarily by hand from Cizhu bamboo. Using simple yet refined wooden-structure machinery, the bamboo is drawn into hair-thin bamboo strands and made and woven to be as thin as cicada wings and shaped like brocade silk. These unique handmade bamboo curtains convey a simple, elegant feeling and fill the room with a scholarly atmosphere.
