5 mm clear tempered safety glass, custom-cut up to 20 290 cm (200 2900 mm), with ground and polished edges and eased corners. Tempered safety glass is thermally toughened, making it considerably stronger than standard glass and more resistant to impact and bending. It is also less sensitive when hot objects are placed on a glass tabletop. If broken, tempered glass crumbles into small glass pieces, reducing the risk of injury. For these reasons, tempered glass is used for tabletops and as glass panels for door and window inserts. Tempered glass must not be modified after manufacturing, for example by drilling or sawing.
